At Phil Baker P.C., our clients trust us with some of their most important legal needs. More often than not, our clients are facing serious legal crises that could have life-changing repercussions. If you have experienced an event when you cannot settle for anything less than results-oriented counsel, strategy-driven advocacy, and hard-hitting representation, you need to turn to one of La Grange’s most established law firms.
Phil Baker P.C. has been representing the people of Texas for decades. Since 1995, we have established ourselves as one of Texas’s leading law firms for criminal defense and personal injury matters. Our founder, Phil Baker, is a seasoned trial lawyer – one who has actually seen a courtroom, has tried countless cases, and obtained an impressive track record along the way. Our La Grange lawyer knows how to counter prosecutors, persuade juries, and inspire judges. This caliber of skill is not novice – it is only gained through continued practice, devotion, and persistence.
“It is reassuring to have a lawyer who actually speaks with you but it is even more reassuring when that attorney knows the law inside and out. With Phil in your corner, there's a good chance the other side will throw in the towel. ”— Chris, Former Client
Our firm proudly represents clients throughout La Grange and other surrounding counties in Texas, including Fayette County, Colorado County, Austin County, Lee County, Lavaca County, Bastrop County, and Washington County.
Our firm represents clients in all areas of criminal defense, including misdemeanors, felonies, and federal crimes. Whether you are facing a first-time DUI/DWI charge, a violent crime charge, or you need to appeal a conviction, your attorney must be able to pursue the case as far as necessary. Mr. Baker has state and federal legal experience and he is an accomplished trial lawyer. Because he has a reputation for taking cases to trial, the opposition is often more willing to offer better plea bargains.
Because we handle a wide range of personal injury matters and criminal defense cases, we are proud to represent people from all walks of life. We have represented a wide range of individuals such as police officers, firefighters, military personnel, teachers, doctors, nurses, students, and everyone in between. You can expect everyone at the firm to treat you and your family with respect and compassion throughout the process.
With so many attorneys out there, it can be difficult to know who to trust or where to turn for help. When your freedom or your family's well-being depends on the outcome of your case, you need a lawyer who will fight relentlessly for you, whether the case is resolved in negotiation or at trial.
When you hire our firm, you will work directly with Mr. Baker throughout your case. We do not pass clients off to associates or paralegals. You can rely on his knowledge, passion and experience. We limit our caseload so we can truly devote every ounce of effort, manpower, and resources to every client. We will not stop working the case until we get the best results possible under the circumstances.

Facing the criminal justice system is no easy feat. Even though every person has the right to a fair trial by a jury of his or her peers, it may seem that the hand of the law is an unforgiving one. When going up against the state’s attorneys – and their seemingly endless resources backed by the government – you will need a qualified lawyer on your side of the aisle. Phil Baker understands how to fight to level the playing field, knows how to combat allegations, and can ensure prosecutors play fair.
Your fight is our fight, no matter how complex your case may be. We are relentless in our pursuit of justice and will not stop fighting until we secure the results you need to move forward with your life.
As your attorney, you can be confident in my ability to protect your rights, preserve your future, and share your side of the story. I take responsibility for trial strategy – and take most pride in the act of successfully persuading a jury in your favor. I also believe that the key to securing successful results involves creating open dialogue and honest communication with you. Getting to know you, your concerns, and your story allows me to fully prepare but also allows me to better serve you as your mouthpiece in a court of law. My level of case preparation and investigation is something that sets my firm apart and has continued to distinguish my approach to client representation since 1995.
“You want to hire someone who has been here before. Not someone who is practicing on you for the first time.” – Attorney Phil Baker
Complaining witness was blocking traffic while marking underground utilities. Client was accused of threatening worker by honking his horn, racing his engine, and striking the worker with his truck. Our investigation showed that complaining witness had previously assaulted his wife and threatened an off duty social worker with a gun. State refused to dismiss. Jury acquitted after five-day trial.
The Right to Remain Silent Even when police ask questions, you must remember that you have the right to remain silent. Keep your mouth shut. Simply assert your right to remain silent and do not talk to the police or other investigators.
The Right to Say “No” If police officers ask to search your home, car, vehicle, or other property, you have the right to say no. Because anything you say can be used against you, anything found will be used against you, too.
The Right to an Attorney If you are under investigation or have been charged, do not speak with anyone other than a lawyer about the facts of your case. This includes family members, friends, or others down the grapevine.
The Right to a Fair Trial Perhaps one of the greatest rights afforded by the Constitution includes your right to a trial by jury. Remember – you are always presumed innocent until proven guilty or convicted during a trial.
